Sushinsky caps producitve 2022-23

Junior Jacob Sushinsky takes 8th in the 4A 3,200; Mullen ends latest campaign on the track.
Jacob Sushinsky capped a productive 2022-23 on Saturday.

At the Class 4A Championships in Lakewood at Jefferson County Stadium, the junior finished in eighth place in the 1,600 meters.

Sushinsky was timed in 4 minutes, 18.53 seconds.

He was Mullen’s main contributor – Sushinsky also was third in the 3,200, turning in a time of 9:28.78, just 2.02 seconds off the winning effort.

In the fall, when Sushinsky began to take off, he capped a strong regular season by taking fourth in cross country, the second-best showing by a Mullen runner.

The Mustangs also had their boys 800 relay team take eighth at Jeffco. Kameron Lewis, Santino Donati, Samuel Puana and Gavin Martinez finished in 1:30.48.

As a team, Mullen boys scored 11 points to end 21st.

Also on Saturday, Amy O’Connell was 15th in the 4A 3,200, 5:13.50, for the Mustangs girls, who did not score in the team standings.
